Residency Club

The Residency Club is open to all students at the School of Pharmacy. The meetings and events are planned by a committee of PLS members. Please contact the Residency Club Co-Chairs, Sean Baltes (sbaltes@wisc.edu) or Rhiann Sato (rmsato@wisc.edu) with any questions.

About Residency Club

Meetings bring in speakers to advise students interested in completing a residency after graduation. In the fall, meetings focus on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Regional Meeting. The ASHP Midyear Meeting is held every December, and it is the main meeting potential residency candidates attend to speak with recruiters about their programs. PLS Residency Club meetings feature guest panels who have attended the Midyear Residency Showcase. Expect to hear helpful hints about what types of conversations program directors have with potential residency candidates at the booths and learn the proper etiquette for approaching booths. Students that have attended Midyear provide us with an overview of what they did to prepare and their overall thoughts about the conference. Meetings also feature presentations about interviewing techniques and helpful hints for applying to residency programs put on by the PLS Residency Club members. In the spring, meetings focus on unique opportunities after graduation such as fellowships, MS programs, PhD programs, and also board certifications available for pharmacists. Career building topics include discussions about unique leadership opportunities available for student pharmacists.
