Teaming up with Safe Communities, MedDrop is dedicated to educating and providing services to the community on safe medication disposal and poison control. MedDrop and Safe Communities offer an environmentally-friendly method of disposing of unused or expired medications in an effort to prevent accidental ingestion and drug abuse. Students educate the community about why proper medication disposal is so important and promote the use of the permanent collection boxes in their community.

- Seventy percent of those who abuse prescription drugs get them from family or friends
- Last year unintentional poisonings killed more Dane County residents than automobile crashes and that misuse or abuse of prescription, over-the-counter or illicit drugs are the major cause
- Pain medication when misused, can be especially fatal
