Fall 2021
Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) is excited to be hosting monthly meetings in-person again now that UW-Madison’s School of Pharmacy has returned to campus! This year, we decided to do something different for our monthly meetings. Instead of us choosing the topics, YOU are in charge of letting us know who YOU want to hear from, what areas YOU are interested in, and what YOU want to get out of SCCP. We are giving all the power back to our members! Check out the SCCP Instagram page (@sccp_uwmadison), website (https://students.pharmacy.wisc.edu/sccp/) and look out for emails about upcoming events and other important information!

Mentorship Program
For another year, SCCP is proud to offer its mentorship program. This year, SCCP matched 30 pharmacy students with pharmacy mentors. Students find it helpful to be connected with a pharmacist who can offer advice and answer questions about career paths, academics, pharmacy interests, or how to achieve professional goals. Students may choose to try to match with pharmacists from a specialty that interests them, while others may prefer to match with pharmacy residents or general practice pharmacists to help them further discover their interests. The mentorship program is a great, low-stakes way to start networking and building relationships in the pharmacy profession! If you have questions about the mentorship program, please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Nick Ruark at ruark@wisc.edu for more information.
Looking to get more involved?
A message from the PRN Co-Chairs
SCCP offers several events throughout the school year to allow students to get involved while broadening their clinical and professional skill:
Clinical Research Competition: Spring Semester – February
This competition is targeted towards pharmacy students in their first two years. Critically evaluating and applying primary literature is an essential skill for clinical pharmacists. Research and scholarship contribute to improved health outcomes for patients and advancements in the profession of clinical pharmacy. This innovative and unique competition offers teams of three pharmacy students to participate in an online journal club, and the opportunity to submit a letter of intent and a clinical research proposal.
Clinical Pharmacy Competition: Spring Semester – April
Teams of three students will compete against teams in a “quiz-bowl” type format. Each round will consist of questions offered in the three distinct segments: trivia/lightning, clinical case, and jeopardy-style.
Research Symposium: Spring Semester – April
This is an opportunity for students to present research that they have been a part of in a poster presentation and online hybrid manner. The top 3 posters of the symposium have historically received a monetary award to support them presenting at a national convention.
