Computer Use
All enrolled graduate students are eligible to receive one school-issued laptop computer during their academic career with the program. It is recommended that students who already have a computer that works wait until that computer starts to fail to get a new computer. The School of Pharmacy’s Instructional and Information Technology (IIT) staff will assist you in the purchasing of this computer and its maintenance. IIT staff will also help with setting up access to printers, loading software, problem solving computer issues, and general technology assistance. For help with any of these issues contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@pharmacy.wisc.edu. For TA support related to test-with test-taking accommodations, contact IIT to borrow a computer and check with the SAS Division Administrative Assistant for a private test-taking room. E-mail the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@pharmacy.wisc.edu.
Photocopying and Printing
Photocopying and printing on the department copy machine and printers is not permitted for personal purposes. IT will map a printer to your computer for school-related printing purposes. Use of the color printer is limited and students must request to use the color printer with the SAS department administrative assistant. A maximum of 20 copies may be printed per request. Anything in addition to that must be printed elsewhere (ex. DoIT, library, etc.) using the students’ own funding.
Mailboxes
You are assigned a shared mailbox for department notices and messages, campus mail, and U.S. mail. The mailboxes are in the ground-floor hallway by the Marsh Dr. entrance. Your mail will be delivered to the box that corresponds to your office number in the SAS hallway. It is up to you and your office mates to check and empty your mailbox.
The correct address for your mailbox is:

Parking Permit
Limited car/truck parking is available for approved student commuters and students with special needs on a space-available basis. Students may apply to purchase university parking permits for Lots 60, 76.( https://map.wisc.edu/). There is frequent free campus bus service between these lots and the pharmacy building. Most students walk, bike, or take the bus (using their free Madison Metro bus pass). Permits are also available for sidewalks or unmarked areas.

Students must first get preapproval to confirm they fit the criteria for a permit. Start the process by completing a Student Parking Preapproval Application.

Health Insurance
Health insurance covering hospitalization and emergency services is strongly recommended. Information concerning group health insurance, which is available to those holding at least a 33.3% appointment as a graduate research assistant, grad Fellow, grad project assistant, or teaching assistant, may be obtained from the department payroll & benefits coordinators. Self-funded graduate students are not eligible for insurance offered to RAs and TAs. They may contact the Wisconsin Student Association for health insurance information – visit https://www.uhs.wisc.edu/. Health care is available at the University Health Service (UHS) for all UW–Madison students. See their website for details on the coverage offered. Hospitalization and emergency room services are not included in UHS benefits.
Desk Assignment, Keys, and Building Permits
Full-time students in the HSRP Graduate Program are assigned desks on a first-come first-served basis. Contact the Division Administrative Assistant to select your desk after you have enrolled in classes. Wiscards serve as the key for the outside doors of all Rennebohm Hall during weekends and when the building is closed. Access is granted to all enrolled students at the School of Pharmacy. Contact Josh Cutler for access to different rooms in the building and if you have issues with your Wiscard. There is a charge for replacing lost keys to the building.
