Annual Events

The Student Ambassadors assist with the following events:

  • DPH-1 Orientation (Fall)
First year students are welcomed to the School of Pharmacy through several days of orientation. Student Ambassadors and Student Connection Leaders assist with activities throughout orientation to welcome the new class of students and ensure they have a smooth transition.
  • PharmD Admissions Interviews (Fall and Spring)
Current PharmD applicants are invited to participate in a half-day interview experience. The UW-Madison School of Pharmacy hosts both on-campus and virtual interview options. The interview day consists of a welcome, formal interview, student panel, faculty panel, and an admissions Q&A. Interview day is a terrific way for applicants to learn about the School. Each year, Ambassadors play an important role in these admissions interviews, ensuring each part of the day runs smoothly for the applicants and the admissions team.
  • Pre-SoP Roundtables (Fall)
The Pre-Pharmacy Club, run by current undergraduate students, is welcomed to Rennebohm Hall to learn about the School of Pharmacy from current PharmD and Pharm-Tox students. PharmD and Pharm-Tox students cover a variety of topics ranging from admissions to coursework and what students do for fun.
  • Mock Interviews (Fall and Spring)
The Student Ambassadors, under the direction of the Mock Interview Coordinator, organize three mock interview events each year to help prospective students prepare for professional school interviews. Students participate in a 30-minute interview with 1-2 current PharmD or Pharm-Tox students and have an opportunity to ask questions about interviewing best practices.
  • Alumni Tailgate (Fall)
School of Pharmacy alumni are welcomed back to campus with a tailgate prior to a football game each fall. Events include lunch, a raffle to raise money for student scholarships, and an opportunity to catch up with former classmates, faculty, and staff.
  • Pharmacy Preview Day (Fall and Spring)
Preview Day is an opportunity for high school students and their guests to visit the School of Pharmacy and learn more about what it means to be a pharmacist. Information about the PharmD and Pharm/Tox programs is presented and students can choose from several breakout sessions, including student and pharmacist panels, compounding and pharmacotherapy lab demonstrations, a tour of the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy, and information about School of Pharmacy international opportunities.
  • Pinning Ceremony (Spring)
The pinning ceremony is an opportunity to congratulate the DPH-3 class on completing their three years of didactic coursework and send them off to their fourth-year rotations.
  • Hooding Ceremony (Spring)The hooding ceremony is a School of Pharmacy celebration to bestow graduating PharmD students with their academic hoods, which they will wear to commencement later that day.
