ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • There is no world language requirement for the PharmD program, however, world language may be required for your parallel plan.
  • There is no Communication B requirement for the PharmD program, however, this is a graduation requirement for UW–Madison.  Students who plan to apply to the PharmD program prior to completing an undergraduate degree are strongly encouraged to complete the Communication B requirement which can be fulfilled through Biology 152.
  • Students who are admitted to the PharmD program prior to completing an undergraduate degree will be eligible to earn the BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) upon successful completion of the first or second year of pharmacy school (at the time when a minimum of 120 credits is earned).  This degree will be automatically granted if the student is in good academic standing and has completed the Communication B course, 6 credits of humanities, 3 credits of social science, and 3 credits of ethnic studies (see the BSPS Course Requirements page)
  • Chemistry 103-104 or 109 or 115 fulfill the General Chemistry prerequisite requirement.
  • It is recommended that students enroll in biology after successfully completing one semester of general chemistry on campus.
  • One semester of physics is required and there is no preference given to either algebra based physics (103) or calculus based physics (201 or 207).
  • Other statistics courses may be used to satisfy the statistics prerequisite (i.e. Psychology 210).  Please check-in with your pre-pharmacy advisor for verification.
  • In order to strengthen your application for admission and demonstrate your preparedness for the rigorous demands of School of Pharmacy academic programs, you are encouraged to enroll in course loads of 14-16 credits per semester during pre-pharmacy studies.
  • Admission to the PharmD program is for the fall semester only; admission is not granted for the spring or summer session.
  • Application to the PharmD program may take place prior to the completion of required prerequisite courses, but it is necessary that all prerequisites be completed prior to the completion of required prerequisite courses, but it is necessary that all prerequisites be completed prior to entrance into the PharmD program.
