The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) – Professional Degree fulfills the educational aspect of the requirements for licensure as a pharmacist. The program consists of two to four years of college level preparatory coursework, followed by four years of study at the School of Pharmacy. The program builds drug therapy expertise and provides the tools to improve patient care and manage the impact of disease in the world.
Safe, effective medications form the backbone of modern medicine and pharmacists are the only healthcare providers whose education focuses solely on discovering, preparing and providing such complex therapies. While some pharmacists collaborate with a healthcare team to educate and care for patients one-on-one, others fight disease by conducting pharmaceutical research or developing new drugs and delivery systems.
Our program prepares students to become leaders in pharmacy healthcare, research and policy. Expect a rigorous and rewarding curriculum led by internationally-recognized pharmacy educators and researchers and designed to help students gain a deep understanding of the chemical, biological, social and clinical sciences that underlie pharmacy and impact patient care.
The program offers a wealth of opportunities in a variety of settings and provides graduates with careers that are both challenging and rewarding. Pharmacy practice settings range from community pharmacies or hospitals, positions in the pharmaceutical industry, residencies, research fellowships, and higher education.
