Doctor of Pharmacy students who hold positions as Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Program/Project Assistants, or Lecturer Student Assistants outside of the School of Pharmacy while enrolled as full-time PharmD students are not permitted to receive tuition remission related to those positions. In addition, PharmD students are discouraged from taking these positions because according to the UW-Madison policy on RA/PA/TA Assistants, Teaching Assistants may have a maximum credit load of 15 credits per semester in fall or spring or 12 credits in a summer term. The semester credit requirements, rigorous nature of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, scheduling of pharmacy discussions and labs, and evening exams do not create an environment conducive to students holding positions as graduate assistants for undergraduate courses. As a matter of policy, no course scheduling or exam accommodations will be allowed for conflicts caused by having such a position.
