Most services at University Health Service (UHS) are available at no cost for all currently enrolled students and members of the UW–Madison Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).
UHS is out-of-network for all health insurance plans except UW-Madison SHIP members. UHS does not bill insurance, verify insurance coverage, or accept assignment of insurance benefits from insurance plans.
Most UHS services are fully covered for SHIP members with no out-of-pocket expense. Students (and any covered spouse or partner) should use UHS for primary care whenever possible, and must use UHS for all available preventive care. UHS does not offer walk-in appointments and is not open evenings and weekends. UHS does not provide emergency care, hospitalization, or dependent care.
