A rule adopted by the Board of Regents as part of the Wisconsin Administrative Code generally prohibits possession of open containers of alcoholic beverages and consumption of any alcoholic beverage on university lands and in university buildings unless specifically permitted. A permit allowing the service and consumption, but not the sale, of alcoholic beverages may be issued under prescribed circumstances by authorized university officials. A university employee must agree to be present at and supervise any event where alcoholic beverages are served. A copy of the Regent rule (UWS 18.06 (13), Wis. Adm. Code) and of the UW–Madison specific regulations regarding Alcohol Beverage Use and Permits as well as Alcohol Beverage Permits, may be obtained from the School of Pharmacy Dean’s Office, Room 1126.
