Deadlines regarding the adding or dropping of courses appear in the Deadlines at a Glance document on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
Dropping a Core Course before the Drop Deadline
PharmTox students must get approval from the PharmTox Program Manager/Advisor to drop or make changes to their schedule of core courses. This is to ensure the student understands the implications of dropping a course. Many courses in the core curriculum are prerequisites to others or only offered in the fall or spring – dropping these classes can extend time to graduation by a year or more. The advisor will document the approval and the student’s future enrollment plans in Notes in Advising Gateway.
Core courses: Biochemistry 507, 508; Anatomy & Physiology 335 (or Biocore equivalent); Pathology and Laboratory Medicine 404; Pharm Sci 625, 626, 679; any courses that fulfill the “Pharmacology” requirement in the major.
Late Add and Late Drop Procedures
A student may not drop any course after the course drop deadline unless permission has been received from the PharmTox Program Manager/Advisor and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Decisions about late course drops will be documented in Notes in Advising Gateway.
A student who wishes to add a course to his/her schedule after the deadline to “add a course with department/instructor permission” must submit a Course Change Request. After obtaining the instructor’s signature, the student must submit the form to the PharmTox Program Manager/Advisor for the “academic dean’s approval” portion of the form.
